Privacy Policy
1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy describes how Budgi (“we”, “us”, or “the app”) handles information when you use the Budgi iOS application. Budgi is designed to keep your financial data under your control: budgeting data lives on your device, with optional Apple services you choose to enable.
2. Information Budgi stores
Depending on how you use the app, Budgi may store:
- Budget categories, spending limits, expenses, income, notes, merchants, and related ledger data
- Optional receipt images you capture with the camera document scanner
- Optional grocery stores, items, and price entries in the Prices feature
- Optional recurring transaction templates
- App preferences such as appearance, accent color, and notification settings
- On-device Ask Budgi chat history (stored with file protection on your device)
This information is stored locally using Apple’s SwiftData / on-device storage. We do not operate a Budgi backend that collects your budget contents for advertising or resale.
3. Optional Apple services
If you enable them, Budgi may use the following Apple-provided services:
- iCloud / CloudKit — to sync your Budgi data across your devices (private database) and to support optional budget sharing with people you invite (shared zone)
- Sign in with Apple — to identify your account for sync and sharing features; we store the Apple user identifier and display name you provide in the Keychain / app storage
- StoreKit — to process Budgi Plus subscriptions; purchase status is managed by Apple
- FinanceKit (where available) — only if you choose to import transactions from Apple’s finance APIs
- Camera — only if you choose to scan receipt images with the system document scanner. Budgi does not access your Photos library
- Location (when allowed) — only to suggest nearby grocery stores in Prices
- Notifications — optional budget alert notifications you allow from Settings
- On-device Apple Intelligence / Foundation Models — Ask Budgi runs privately on supported devices; prompts and answers are not sent to a Budgi server
Apple’s handling of data for these system services is governed by Apple’s privacy policies and your device settings.
4. Sharing with others
If you create or join a shared household budget, participants can see the shared group’s categories, expenses, income (including notes), and balances through CloudKit sharing. Receipt images, Prices / grocery data, and recurring templates are not included in household sharing — they stay on each person’s device and, when iCloud is enabled, in that person’s private CloudKit database. You control invitations and can stop sharing from Settings where available.
5. Analytics, advertising, and selling data
Budgi does not sell your personal information. The app is not designed around third-party advertising trackers. We do not use your budget contents to build advertising profiles.
6. Data retention and deletion
Local data remains on your device until you delete it in-app or delete the app. iCloud-synced data is retained according to your Apple ID / iCloud settings. You can sign out of Sign in with Apple features in Settings, manage subscriptions in your Apple ID subscription settings, and delete the app to remove local storage.
7. Children’s privacy
Budgi is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
8. International users
Because Budgi relies on Apple platforms, your data may be processed in locations where Apple operates infrastructure according to your Apple ID region and device configuration.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of Budgi after an update means you acknowledge the revised policy.
